In the news today:

Sami Mokel of The Daily Mail reports today that Arsenal have ‘stepped up their pursuit’ of West Brom striker, Peter Odemwingie.

The former Lille forward, who is out of contract next summer, has been repeatedly been linked with a move to the Gunners and Mokel believes the deal is getting closer.

The Nigerian, 29, is available for around £7m and had a great debut season in the Premiership last season hitting 15 goals for the Baggies.

don't know what's there to search…eto'o is available…sign doesn't matter if we have to go berserk to sign him…he can make all difference and guarantee us a title next season…

Dunno…….. he has at least played in the prem and wouldnt need to bed in.Cant help feeling a “marquee” signing would lift the mood of the fans and club.Debt wins trophies but i can see more money coming in than going out again, chiefly due to Cesc departing.Liverpool sold Torres and reinvested immediately and that looks to have worked for them on the field. If you look across the many leagues in the world it's rare to buck the trend of the biggest spenders not being at the top and we aint the bigger spenders and we aint bucking the trend.

Problem with Eto'o is that if you're not prepared to guarantee that he'll be first choice he'll become disruptive and how can you guarantee that when RvP was our best player last season. It'll be Chelsea with Drogba and Torres all over again. If we're gonna get a marquee signing it needs to be a player who can play on the wing. I suppose moving RvP to the wing is an option but it's a gamble because Eto'o needs to bed in immediately to take over from RvP in the goalscoring role. Eto'o apparently caused dressing room disruption at Barcelona and there was a major disagreement with Alex Song in the Cameroon camp.

@002ba: i am completely against spending big bucks for sake of it or unnecessarily like many clubs do…but with experience and winning attitude eto'o has big bucks spent after him will be truly justified…signing a player like him will also help us a lot in holding onto players like fabregas and nasri…also odemwingie might have been better last season..but unlike eto'o he hasn't yet proved that he is consistent or cope up with pressure of playing in a big team…so looking at short-term success(which wenger very much needs right now) eto'o will be awesome…

absolutely against spending obscene amount of money Man city/ chelsea style. i would rather not win trrophies than buy trophies. Hence I would say no to Eto, his wage demands alone would be ridiculous. And I agree with the poster who pointed out his attitude problem.

Odemwiingie; well as a reasonable reserve striker I have no issue with him. If RVP gets injured then he would be useful.
However, what i am really hoping for is Real madrid to buy Neymar, thus having no need of Benzema, and floggin him to L'arse. And I suspect it wouldnt be a massive fee, under 20 mill which is not too unreasonable in this day and age.
