In the news today:
According to The Daily Mail, ‘Manchester United have made a strong enquiry’ while Chelsea are now keeping tabs on Arsenal target, Thiago Alcantara.
The Barcelona man is a well known Arsenal target and has been touted as bait in any potential Fabregas deal to the Spanish champions.
Thiago, son of World Cup winner Mazinho, scored a wonderful goal in Saturday’s U21 European Championship final and deserved mass applause and recognition for his performance over the tournament.
Thiago’s stunning goal in the European Championship final on Saturday
A WTTGT source told us just last week: “Arsenal’s chief scout, Steve Rowley has sent his boys over to the U21 tournament to watch Thiago,” suggesting a deal could well be imminent.
But Barcelona must decide if they could see Thiago as a long-term replacement for their top midfielder, Xavi who has an ongoing Achilles problem that could well cut short his career. If they do, then any move for Fabregas would surely be dead in the water.
Who would you rather have at the Gunners next season? An unhappy but inspiring Fabregas or a young, talented and motivated Thiago.
