In the news today:
Following Arsène Wenger’s sudden delves into the Asian market, another name has emerged as a possible target for the Gunners.
The Frenchman has lavished praise on Shinji Kagawa, suggesting that the Japanese international could well be on his shortlist of targets.
Kagawa played last night against Arsenal for his current club, Borussia Dortmund, and he is not the only player from their Champions League opposition to be linked with Arsenal. Mario Gotze is another name that won’t leave the rumour mill, again being linked with a £30m switch.
Arsenal already possess in their ranks stars emerging from Asia. Both Ryo Miyaichi and new summer signing from Monaco, Park Chu-Young have been earning positive praise in the early parts of the new season.
On Shinji Kagawa, though, Arsène said: “Kagawa is a very mobile player, he is very clever, very creative and is very quick in the box and that is why he is a proven goal-scorer.”
Perhaps not conclusive evidence of interest, but given the starlets impressive display last night, I am sure Mr Wenger took note.
