New signing Mikel Arteta has taken straight to Twitter to pronounce his joy at joining the club: “Proud to wear number 8 #afc.”
It’s a number previously worn by club legends, Ian Wright and Freddie Ljungberg, before being soiled by Samir Nasri. But perhaps the number 8 shirt can once again be a source of pride for Arsenal fans.
Arteta has already become a popular figure at the club, with a show of joy at joining the club almost equal to Samir’s happiness at leaving!
Emmanuel Frimpong: #goodbanter
Twitter’s introduction into the world of football has allowed fans a glimpse of something very different to the monotone lines usually delivered in TV interviews.
Each player seems to showcase their personality online through their Twitter posts, none more so than Emmanuel Frimpong, who has never been afraid to Tweet his mind.
This week the young Ghanaian Tweeted: “@JackWilshere haha mate Who’s Gonna be Pushing ur wheelchair wen u cum to the game tomoz SICKNOTE LOL” [sic].
It is nice to have a player like Wilshere, who cares enough to attend games despite being injured. Are you reading Mr. Fabregas?

Initial panic spread through me upon reading a Tweet from Jack Wilshere this week. “Me and @T_Vermaelen05 training for the tour de France!”
Such is the length of Arsenal’s injury list it wouldn’t be beyond belief that some are resorting to alternative sports.
However, fans will be relieved to see the picture to which he referenced, simply showing the injured pair edging closer to a first-team return.
