Goal of the Month: September

After a goalless August from both an attacking and defending point of view, Arsenal finally found the back of the night in some style.

The Gunners found the back of the net 18 times in all competitions over the course of September, and some of them were real beauties.

Big wins over both Southampton and Coventry means that there are a lot to choose from, but WTTGT have shortlisted what we believe to the three best for you to vote on.

So cast your vote and we’ll announce the winner at the weekend.

Happy voting!

Lukas Podolski vs. Southampton

Havng got off the mark in Arsenal’s previous Premier League outing at Liverpool, the Germany international doubled the Gunners lead against Southampton with a beauty of a free-kick.

The new boy stepped up and drilled a 30-yard effort past Kelvin Davis and into the top corner of the Saints goal.

The Former Koln skipper got us on our way to a crushing victory over the South Coast outfit.

Olivier Giroud vs. Coventry City

Having received stick from all quarters of the game, Olivier Giroud finally grabbed his first goal for the club in the Capital One Cup against Coventry City with a goal of real quality.

After being played through by Francis Coquelin, the Frenchman beat the offside trap before unleashing a delightful chip over the keeper to open his Gunners account.

The less said about the penalty miss the better.

Gervinho vs. Chelsea

With the Gunners trailing at home to the Blues, Arsenal were in need of a spark to bring them back into the game.

Step forward Gervinho who, after starting the game as a centre forward, found some rare space in the Chelsea penalty area before taking a touch to get the ball out of his feet and then pounding his shot into the roof of the net.

The strike took the Ivorian’s goal tally to four for the season.
