Stoke City’s Bosnian goalkeeper Asmir Begovic insists he is doing his best to ignore speculation linking him with a move away from the Potteries club.
A short move up the A34 to Manchester, of the United variety, has been rumoured for the best part of 12 months; thanks largely to questions over the suitability of David De Gea.
In recent weeks it appears that, if you believe the tabloids, Arsene Wenger too has shown an interest in the Potters’ number one. Despite having the best defensive record away from home it appears that the North London club are looking to provide much needed cover, or possibly a replacement for, Wojciech Szczesny.
It would appear that Tony Pulis is resigned to losing the Bosnian, as evidenced by his deadline day move for England ‘keeper Jack Butland. Despite the incessant rumours Begovic just wants to end the 2012/13 season on a high note for Stoke, but he did concede that it was nice to be linked with such illustrious names, he told Sky Sports: “I must confess it is nice to hear these things. It is always nice to hear what others are saying, it means that you are doing a good job.”
Wherever he moves I doubt many would be surprised to see Begovic, who rejected both Spurs andChelsea to sign for Stoke, between the sticks for one of the Premier League’s elite next season.
