Nothing is ever straight forward with regards to Arsenal transfer activity and that looks to be the case with thier pursuit of Adil Rami, with The Metro reporting that money bags Ahnzi are set to go head to head with the London club in a bid to sign the player.
Competing with Ahnzi is simply out of the question given the clout of the Russians and the ludacrous money they are likely to offer, however that is not to say that this is a lost cause for what Ahnzi can offer the player in funds Arsenal can offer in heritage and a place playing for one of the top clubs in one of Europes best leagues.
Of course they would need to initially match their rivals in a bidding war but with Valencia still in a sticky financial state Arsenal might yet have a chance providing they can convince the player he belongs at Arsenal and therefore meaning he would lose interest in a move to the Russain outback.
Without question getting him would be a huge step forward who currently possess a defense who if you suggested have been all at sea this season would be an understatement. Rami a French international has the potential to revitalise that and this is one that would be very much fighting tooth win the bidding war and secure his services. So Arsene Wenger had best get practicising that charm in the mirror and bring out the photo books of the likes of Viera, Petit and Henry, because they could really do with the services of Rami.
