Goodbye and thank you to Dat Guy Welbz
For the last home game of the season , among all the goodbye tears for Aaron Ramsey and anger of the result versus Brighton, for Arsenal fans on Sunday there was also a small feeling of gratitude and sadness for another of our fine players.
A it was announced on the speakers that Danny Welbeck would be also leaving this summer, he was welcomed onto the pitch with an applause, then it was said:
“Danny signed from Manchester United in 2014, he went onto make 88 league appearances for the club, scoring some crucial goals along the way. He is an extremely popular member of the squad and his presence will be missed in the dressing room, we wish him every success in the future as he now receives a parting gift from the club.“
In total Danny Welbeck has made 126 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal, scoring 32 goals and creating 15 assists. Sadly since joining the Gunners due to injury, it’s been a tale of what might have been for the former England international, with injuries leading Welbeck to miss 121 games in total over a 4 season span.

A very versatile forward, on his day Welbeck can be unplayable, thanks to his all action, committed style and pace that was most in evidence in the March 2015 FA Cup game against his former club as he scored the winner and gave a commanding centre forward performance to knock Manchester United out of the competition.
The most important thing about Danny Welbeck is something that is not only a credit to him as a player but also a man, his character. Welbeck as before mentioned has had numerous set backs in his Arsenal career, but he always has a positive attitude, when on the pitch he shows that by always working hard, off the pitch you’ll see him laughing joking and taking an interest in his team mates, which has kept him a vital member of the squad regardless whether he was playing or not. In short every team needs a Danny Welbeck and it is his influence off the pitch that will be missed most of all At Arsenal.
I’ll end this article by saying Thank You Danny Welbeck – thank you for the goals, the assists and importantly thank you for every ounce of sweat you gave for Arsenal, if the rest of our team had the same attitude as you, maybe we’d be higher up the table by now.
I got into football as a kid watching Italian football in the afternoons and ever since I’ve been hooked on tactics and the continental side of the game. I’ve written about Italian football in the past among other things but now it’s time to write about, the embodiment of how I see the beautiful game, Arsenal. Hopefully writing things and opinions about the game you haven’t seen before, I like a bit of a joke too.

Well said James. He deserved your accolade.
No one could ever describe him as a mercenary.
Regards,
Victor
