The Importance Of Winning The FA Cup
It has been a season to forget at the Emirates which was dragged out by the forced stoppage, but while our position in the table and the performances on the pitch have not been up to the expected standard, there is still a possibility that we can end the season on a high. Despite our poor performances in the league, we have made it through to the FA Cup Final after an impressive 2-0 win over Man City and we now just have to beat our London rivals, Chelsea, at Wembley. This team has been inconsistent in Lampard’s first season in the dugout.
Why We Need To Win
Adding silverware to the trophy cabinet is always a plus, but this season it seems particularly important that we lift the trophy at Wembley as it could have a big impact on the future of the club. If we manage to beat the Blues, we will secure a place in the Europa League next season despite our worrying 8th placed finish in the league table. While the club wants to be in the Champions League, the Europa League is not to be sneezed at, and playing in this competition could be important not only for retaining our top talent but also attracting new players in a few key positions that Arteta will undoubtedly be looking at this summer. Additionally, the EL trophy is one that Arteta will feel that he can win, and this could be the easiest path back into the CL when you consider just how competitive it is in the Premier League.
Why We Can’t Lose
Of course, failure to win the FA Cup would be a miserable end to a disastrous season. It would mean no European competition next season. It would limit our transfer options in a time where the squad clearly needs new talent to get back to the top where we belong and ahead of Spurs, who had their worst season in a long time, but still managed to finish ahead of us (although again failed to win any silverware).
Why We Can Win
There is reason to be confident, as we certainly have the firepower up front with Lacazette and Aubameyang and Chelsea’s defence has been less than convincing this season (they have conceded more goals than us), plus our recent victories over Liverpool and Man City will hopefully boost the team’s confidence that they can compete with the top teams. We have our own defensive frailties to consider, though, and Chelsea look good going forward, so it should certainly be an entertaining fixture no matter what. The stakes are high, and it is understandable if Arsenal fans are feeling nervous – an excellent way to reduce stress during the game and during half-time is to play casino games online, and you can easily learn how to play live Roulette online which will help to keep you occupied.
The stage is set for a colossal final on Saturday, and hopefully, the importance of a win will push the boys to defeat Chelsea at Wembley. While this is not a season that fans will want to look back on, a win would put an encouraging spin on the campaign, but more importantly, it would allow the club to grow and enter at a higher level next season.
