In the news today:
Goal.com chief correspondant, Wayne Veysey has revelaed that Arsenal are trying to tempt Ipswich youngster, Connor Wickham into a move. The 18 year old striker has been likened to Alan Shearer for his bullish approach and eye for goal and at such a young age, has become one of the main men in Ipswich’s side.
Paul Jewell, his current manager, will not be keen to sell the star but with a reported fee of £12m on the table from both Arsenal and Liverpool, it could well be out of his hands.
Wickham, who is currently on international duty with the England U21s, could well rejoin Ipswich next season in a loan deal should Arsenal snare the Hereford born youngster.
During the Carling Cup semi-final stage of last season, Wenger got an up-close and personal experience of what Wickham is capable of and it could be those two games that have pursuaded the Arsenal manager to move.
If all speculation is to be believed, then Arsenal are certainly set for another summer of buying youth players in Wickham, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Goetze to name just a few.
Is Wickham Arsenal’s future?
FFS, Wenger! Stop your young boy obsession now!!!
