A move away would revitalise Ramsey

Lady luck has conspired against Aaron Ramsey in recent years and it would be in the Welshman’s interest to move away from the Emirate’s to reignite a stuttering career.

After being billed as one of the brightest footballing stars to come out of Wales in years, Ramsey’s abilities persuaded Arsenal to part with £5m to prise him away from hometown club Cardiff City at the age of 18.

It was in February 2010 that Ramsey’s career was to take a turn for the worst.  After beginning to really establish himself in Arsene Wenger’s first choice midfield, Ramsey took to the field at the Britannia Stadium against Stoke City.  Ramsey was the victim of an ‘industrial’ challenge by Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross which resulted in a double leg break and a 10 month injury lay off.

Lady luck was not done there however, during Ramsey’s time out injured fellow young midfielder Jack Wilshere broke through and stepped into the Welshman’s shoes in the Arsenal midfield.  Upon his return, Ramsey showed an understandable rustiness and did not seem the player that was emerging in the months before his injury.

Despite his struggles at Arsenal since his return, Ramsey has gone on to gain 25 international caps for Wales and was appointed captain of his country in March 2011 by former manager Gary Speed, although current manager Chris Coleman has since replaced Ramsey as national captain by Swansea skipper Ashley Williams.

It would be beneficial for Ramsey to seek a move away from The Emirates this summer.  There is currently a number of central midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order and as a result Ramsey is not getting the regular football a player of his ability should be.

Ramsey has in flashes shown signs of his old self since his return from injury and would still without doubt command a starting berth in a top half Premier League side.  There is a top level player in there somewhere and as a result a season long loan move may be beneficial to Arsenal as much as it would to the player.
