Arsenal enter Aubamenyang race

These days there is a player dubbed ‘the new someone’ or the ‘a countries’ version of a player’ virtually every day.

In fact, it is so common that it is almost a surprise when we hear about a new player who is not likened to someone else. The latest player drawing comparison is Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, who is being dubbed as the African Neymar and who The Metro are reporting is being tracked by Arsenal.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, they are not alone in searching out his services, with several other English clubs keen on the Gabon striker, Newcastle perhaps unsurprisingly given their favouritism for France have shown a particularly strong interest. The 23-year-old has already matched last seasons return of 16 goals and it would seem that his stock is only going to rise from here, however his current club St Etienne might be pushed between a rock and a hard place with the player unlikely to sign a new contract meaning that they will be forced to accept an offer lower than what they might have hoped.

He might not be able to fill the unmeasurable shoes of Robin van Persie but Aubamenyang would be more than a coup for an Arsenal team that have struggled to convince the highest quality players to join in recent seasons.
