After seeing Lukas Podolski on the bench for Arsenal’slast four games it may not be much of a surprise that The Sun are claiming he could well leave the Emirates in the summer.
Apparently both Atletico Madrid and Juventus are interested in the German international who has managed 13 goals for the gunners this season despite playing primarily from the left wing.
Podolski is known to prefer a central strikers role so if the position is offered to him in Italy or Spain he may well be tempted to take it after seeing Olivier Giroiud, Theo Walcott and even Gervinho start centrally ahead of him.
Podolski arrived from Cologne for £11m last summer and the Gunners will be keen to make a profit on a player who has made a big contribution with goals and assists. However, he has been criticised for not working hard enough at times or tracking back as often as he should, perhaps due to a slightly unfamiliar position out wide.
Ateltico are expecting to lose star striker Falcao in the summer so could be preparing Podolski to take over as the main man, although with the Columbian expected to bring in over £40m for Podolski could be just one of the new faces the La Liga club are trying to bring in.
Meanwhile Juventus have agreed a deal to bring Fernando Llorente to the club next season. The Spaniard may have endured a difficult season with Atheltic Bilbao, but will still surely be the main man for the Serie A champions. A move to Juventus may see more silverware for Podolski, but he may have too be content with the support striker role for a while longer.
