Arsenal target Swansea stopper

When you get dropped for a goalkeeper whose nickname is ‘Flappy-hands-ski’ then it’s probably safe to say things aren’t going to well.

Yes, that was aimed at you Wojciech Szczesny.

According to The Metro, things are about to get even worse for everyone’s favourite spelling mistake. Apparently Arsene Wenger has lost patience with his keeper and is preparing a bid forSwansea’s Michel Vorm as a replacement.

The Gunner’s did manage to beat the Swans 2-0 on Saturday but Vorm has been attracting praise for his performances for quite some time now with Liverpool also known to be interested.

Even Barcelona and Manchester United are mentioned by The Metro as possible destinations for the Dutch stopper, but a move to Arsenal seems much more likely.

If a move for Vorm does fail to materialise though Wenger is also keen on Liverpool’s Pepe Reina and Barcelona’s Victor Valdes with both Spanish stoppers possibly available in the summer. Reina’s form has improved somewhat recently so Brendan Rodger’s will be more reluctant to sell his man, but Valdes is refusing to sign a new contract at Barca as looks set to leave in the summer.

In short, prepare for a goalkeeping merry-go-round/soap opera this summer starring Pepe Reina, Michel Vorm, Victor Valdes and Wojciech Szczesny. Oh, and you can probably throw Iker Casillas and David De Gea into the mix as well. Who knows where they will all end up?
