In November 2013 after a depressing journey home from Old Trafford I was inspired to write a blog entitled – Can Arsenal borrow young song Manchester United and shove it right back up your arse?
Very simply it took their stirring new chant, primarily aimed at Liverpool, ’20 Times Man United’ and suggested a few modifications. A wee change to the lyrics to Arsenalise the terrace anthem. The resulting 49 49 Undefeated was taken up by Arsenal fans, initially away in Europe and the rest as they say is history. In fact singing it at the United fans as they left in the thousands toward the end of the Quarter Final this year is right up there with my favourite moments as a Gooner to be honest.
Here it is:

Well folks you will be delighted to hear that I have another fresh anthem for us to adopt starting next Monday at home to Swansea. The even better news is that you don’t even have to learn a new tune and the lyrcs I think you will memorise with some ease.
Somehow I don’t think you will need much persuading on this one as represents the perfect response and indeed tribute to the 20th anniversary of St Totteringham’s Day
The tune you all know and the words are below!
Sing it loud and proud on 20 minute mark and the for as long as you like on Monday night would be my suggestion and we will ask Red Action to get behind it.
As a special treat my colleague here at GT, the ever talented @arsenal_editor has made a special video to accompany this blog. So while I hope you laugh at the lyrics and relish th prospect of singing them at the top of your voices on Monday evening you can look back and enjoy some of the pivotal and fabulous moments in 20 years of dominance in North London
20 year 20 years still above you
20 years 20 years we say
20 years 20 years we’re still laughing
Playing football the Arsenal Way
20 years 20 years still above you
20 years 20 years we say

Laughing each and every May

Passionate fifty-something Arsenal supporter who has been making the journey to N5 regularly since the early 1980s – although his first game was in 1976. Always passionate when talking about The Arsenal, Dave decided to send a guest blog to Gunnersphere in the summer of 2011 and has not stopped writing about the Gunners since.
He set up his own site – 1 Nil Down 2 One Up – in February 2012, which he moved on in 2016 to concentrate on freelance writing and building Gunners Town, which he launched with Paul in 2014.
The objective of GT was to be new and fresh and to give a platform for likeminded passionate Arsenal fans wishing to write about their team. Dave still of course, writes for the site himself and advises the ever-changing writing crew.
