Hello everyone. Club football is back again and thank Christ for that. It feels like every Interlull is worse than the previous. I’m sure that’s my memory playing tricks on me, there’s no obvious reason why the breaks could be getting increasingly frustrating, but there you go. Anyway, we have a delicious Saturday of footy […]
I have read the excellent articles by Petits Ponytail, Alex Baguzin and Timothy Hargreaves and this contribution is designed to augment them rather than to try to improve upon them. The one by Timothy was predictive and was written pre the Liverpool match and that is the cue for my lead in. Just before the game […]
The new campaign is nearly upon us and our pre season fixtures have been completed. A draw, followed by four successive victories, represents a positive summer in terms of the results but the question is, what have we learned from our five non competitive fixtures? From a personal perspective, I have learned nothing that I […]
The silly season is upon us again and the result is fans being treated to transfer rumours of varying credibility almost on a daily basis. We all know the holes Arsenal need to plug this summer (one we already did), but we are still some distance off having a complete squad. My conviction is that […]
Delighted to welcome back Chris Mader our German correspondent to report on Arsenal target Medhi Benatia. It’s not a surprise that a place besides Koscielny is up for grabs for next seasons curtain raiser with Per Mertesacker and Gabriel both seemingly not the best solution for a long term central defensive pairing. Last month and […]
I think I won’t make much of a mistake if I say our Sunday game has produced only two positives: we have almost guaranteed 3rd (provided we avoid defeat in the last match) and Giroud had a good game, one which was long overdue for the Frenchman. Actually, thanks to Southampton, we even retain a […]
I’ll start this preview with an astonishing bit I’ve only just dug up: Crystal Palace have won ONE game in the last 16 league matches. It was a recent home win vs Norwich, the game which ended 1-0. This run of sixteen games included an 11-game winless streak, during which the Eagles have only drawn […]
Once again I don’t know where to start. Not because I have nothing to say, on the contrary, I have a lot to say. But little of it is good, hence my desire to delay the moment for as long as I can. I’ve never suffered from depression, you know. Depression is an actual illness, […]
When the match squads were announced, I started to feel reasonably confident. After all, United could only boast the returns of David De Gea and Marcus Rojo (the latter sustained an injury during the game and limped off). None of Jones, Valencia, Smalling or, most importantly, Martial recovered enough to even make the bench. And […]
The game against Manchester United is looming large and it is the 3rd match in a busy schedule. It started vs Hull in the cup, continued against Barca, now we have United and then, with a 3-5 days interval, Swansea, Tottenham, Hull again, Watford/West Bromwich (depending on whether we beat Hull in the replay), Barcelona […]
