Clutching at Arsenal Straws – “We must accept finite disappointments but never lose infinite hope”
LET’S CLUTCH AT STRAWS. There was a sense of despondency and largely a kind of mixed feelings after the 2007/2008 season. Not many people including pundits, media and opposition fans gave us any chance of competing. Even most Arsenal fans, myself included, thought we were not gonna mount any serious title bid. Our expectations were […]
After years of not competing in the Champions League is it time to truly embrace Thursdays?
Why not the Europa League? I’m writing this just prior to the Man United home game. At the time of writing, we’re sixth in the table. It looks like, even if we do get top four, that our league position would be the worst in over twenty years. Certainly the worst in Wenger’s tenure that […]
It Needs to be Rob if Wenger is ‘Holding’ on to the Back 3 for visit of United
We face Manchester United today, but the game will definitely miss the spark of an important rivalry. It’s 5th vs 6th, and even a win won’t move Arsenal above United. In the end, whether we finish the campaign 5th or 6th doesn’t really matter. I have next to no hope we can break into the […]
Xhaka is the Real Deal but needs his Manager to give him a Real Partner
BLOCK OUT THE NOISE; GRANIT IS THE REAL DEAL. During the recent UEFA EURO tournament won by Assistant Manager Ronaldo and Portugal, many were the talents, new and old, who set France alight with their dazzling skills and overwhelming talent. Some were already established names who came to the fore more; Ronaldo, Payet, Griezmann, Boateng, […]

Why Arsenal need a ‘Running 10’ and Isco is that man?
Six weeks ago in my Football London column I wrote an article that suggested that moving between the 433 and 4231 was problematic for Mesut Ozil. I mused that a ‘Running 10’ as Santi Cazorla was in his first season before the German’s arrival could not be an alternative direction for Arsenal. A player as […]
Tottenham: Our Enemy and Our Antithesis have embraced the Dark Arts we have lost!
Tottenham is the enemy. Always has been; always will be. It will take sustained success as well as actual trophies in their cabinet, however, before there can be a sensible conversation about a “power shift”. That being said, it’s not against the rules to respect your enemy and see things from its perspective. I would […]
A Stark Contrast of Compelling Progression 2 v Stumbling Regression 0 #NLD
I feel like in the last couple of months I’ve traveled every road in terms of covering Arsenal losses. Home and away, league and Europe, big and small margin, tough opponents and weaker sides, mostly bearable and totally destructive. Yesterday’s loss to Spurs probably wasn’t anything I hasn’t been party to. As someone rightly noted […]

Inflict Final Pain at White Hart Lane – Gunners Opportunity to ensure it is still ’61 Never Again’
Howdy. It’s the North London derby today and a start of a very tricky run-in. After playing Spurs away, we face United, Southampton, Stoke, Sunderland and Everton, with only former game and the latter two at home. Can’t remember when we last had a finish to the season so challenging. However we are totally culpable […]
