Arsenal secure signature of promising African

In the news today:

Arsenal have made a signing! It is, though, a 14 year old Ethiopian youngster currently playing his football, or should I say soccer, in the USA.

Gedion Zelalem has signed a deal with Arsenal to join the club on his 16th birthday (January 2013).

Zelalem has been on trial with the club earlier this summer after being spotted by Danny Karbassiyoon, Arsenal’s North America scout.

The youngster’s father is Ethiopian, but Zelalem was actually born in Germany, and now currently lives in the USA so in terms of an international future, although premature, he would have plenty of options. It also means that Arsenal will not need a work permit to sign the talented youngster.

Matt Pilkington, Zelalem’s current coach with Olney Soccer Club, told The Washington Post: “He’s a natural talent. He has balance, vision, ideas.”

All of you above need to stfu. This is the continuation of our youth policy, it's not going to stop it's what we do. Yes, we need signings but that doesn't mean we tell all of our scouts to go home and we stop signing young talent.

Thank you. All you stupid Arsenal Fans & I use the term loosely. Every team signs youngsters but it dosnt make the news. You guys have no clue how a FC is run so stop jumping on the bandwagon & repeating stupid statements being spread around. “Arsene needs to go” or “He needs to buy big names”. Which star is gonna come to Arsenal when they to can go to the likes of Real, Man C or even Chelsea and get tripple £. We dont have that sort of money. Nasri is off to city because he is being offered £100k more a wk than AFC & dont blame him because u would do the same. So please use your brains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was probably these same fans that wrote these same comments when we signed young Frimpong, Miyaichi or even Fabregas back in the day, that now write comments proclaiming that these names should feature in Arsenal's squad today…

    Crazy.

My goodness! Finally the dream that has been in every Ethiopians heart: to wear the Arsenal kit (not as a fan) as a player. Wow.
