Chelsea new boy in Arsenal jibe

WTTGT Writer: Simon Bourne (Site Editor) – Follow Me

In the news today:

Chelsea’s new £26m capture, Juan Mata, has been speaking to ESPN about the reasons why he was so keen to join the blues, in favour of a move to Tottenham or Arsenal.

He said: “I want to come to England to win trophies – and that’s why I accepted Chelsea’s offer. It was also a question of sporting achievement, not money.

“Arsenal and Tottenham were both interested in me but they did not compare with the Blues. I want the Premier League title and this is possible at Chelsea.”

He went on to discuss his good friend, Fernando Torres and the influence that the Spaniard had on his decision. He said: “Fernando Torres helped influence my decision but speaking directly with Villas-Boas was the decisive factor. He explained how his style will be based on 4-3-3 and how important I will be to his plans.

“Frank Lampard is a monster of a footballer to play alongside and the prospect of that is incredible.”

Is this yet another sign that Arsenal are no longer in the same calibre as Chelsea?

this is sad to read. Although from out outside perspective, I wouldn't want to be coming into Arsenal in their current situation either. Any player coming into Arsenal now would have big expectations to hit the ground running.

It just p****s me off that Chelsea signed him so quickly and easily, no pussyfooting around. One day you hear they have entered the race for him, next day they have signed him. With Arsenal it's all just talk… for weeks and weeks. We need to get things DONE!

Well, what would you say after signing with a club? Would you say “Well, Chelsea may not be it, I'd rather play in Arsenal, but what the heck!”? It's natural that a player would hail his new team in his first interview, especially if he wishes to make a mark in that team.
Since when are freshly bought players specialists on the matter?

Its really all about the money because a player who wants to play will go to Arsenal as there is the opportunity there to play and the younger players are given the opportunity. Someone like Juan Mata would slot right into the first team at Arsenal.

It's frustrating being an arsenal fan at the moment the board and wenger's
inability to buy a quality experienced player is ridiculous, I'm loosing faith. If we go out against
udinese what top class player with sign?

Well what will he say now that Arsenal put 5 past them and they are behind the two Manchester teams? Money makes the decisions for many players. they just don't want to admit it. If it was not money, many would still come to Arsenal because they are players, they are competitive and they can win anywhere. If its all about wining, why not be part of a team that is being built to win? Why go to a place where people are proved winners? If you really want to win something, talk to other team and get their perspective and see who they plan to sign and join a team that's being built for wining. its not like Arsenal has not won before. Chelsea are just recent winners.
