The one that Scott away

In the news today:

Former Tottenham player, Jamie Redknapp believes that Arsenal’s north London rivals stole a march on the Gunners by snapping up Scott Parker for a mere £5m.

He told Sky Sports: “We were all looking at Arsenal to see what Arsene Wenger will do and in Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun he has got players that know the Premier League.

“It doesn’t surprise me at all that he didn’t buy English because he just doesn’t fancy them or see any value in them and although he’s signed a couple of young ones, it just isn’t his thing, is it?

“I actually thought they were crying out for a bit of ‘Britishness’. I really thought they needed someone like Scott Parker and in that respect I still don’t think they have sorted out a problem that was crying out to be fixed: they still don’t have someone to sit in front of that back four.

“Maybe Wenger thinks Alex Song and Abou Diaby can do the job and maybe he doesn’t want to stifle the development of Emmanuel Frimpong, but Parker would’ve been perfect.”

    Bit of britishness, yawn. We just want decent players. British or English players haven't won the world cup since '66 so if they're so great why haven't they won anything? British players are over priced and we clearly don't have the money. Scott dann looks okay but we have a better technical defender in Vermalen and he clearly sees Mertesacker as a better options so Jamie should just concentrate on selling holidays (o;

    What is it with tottenham supporters that they always have to talk about arsenal seems to me like your more interested in arsenal than in your own club.

    Song can do everything Parker can, but is better, and Frimpong (who went to all his schools in England, Jamie) needs the space to be able to play…I think he is going to be up there with Essien and Viera very soon. We needed to sign some experienced creative cover so that Ramsey and Willshire didn't feel pressure like their backs were against the wall, and we signed Arteta. Spot on I thought.

    People early in the transfer window were suggesting Parker cause he was cheap and experienced. Now that we have bought or loaned 5 players over 25 we have experience so Scott Parker became just cheap! Song and Frimpong are better and suited to our style. I'm not even gonna start on the “Britishness” bit – but with Jack, Aaron, Theo, Carl we are as “Britished” as we need to be. These days “British” is more a synomym for OVERPRICED.
