Gunners take on Bolton

Arsenal’s game against Bolton has become a must win game, and they are generally 1.44 shots  to bag three points and belatedly get their season back on track.

If anyone told you that this game would have more to do with the bottom of the table rather than the top you would have thought they were stark raving mad.

But the worst start since the 1953-54 season means that the Gunners currently sit in 17th position the in Premiership league table, and anything but victory against Wanderers will not be good enough.

Arsene Wenger is sure to be eager to get the Gunners back on track and playing with confidence, and this looks a gilt edge opportunity for them to do justice that.

The Gunners have won nine and lost none of the 12 Premier League home games against Bolton, with the Trotters last league win in north London coming back in January 1962.

Bolton have also conceded 13 goals in the opening five games of the season, and a back on song Arsenal attack would surely be able to wreak havoc among their defence

Although they had come to come from behind to beat Shrewsbury in the Carling Cup in midweek, there were plenty of positives in the performance and the win will surely have provided a much needed confidence boost.

In the first goal scorer market Robin van Persie, who needs just two goals to reach his century for the Gunners , is the obvious one to net the opener and is a 4.2 chance with Victor Chandler.

That looks decent value, but a small wager on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was outstanding in midweek, is advised at 10 with Paddy Power  if Wenger decides to give him a start.

For those who like to punt in the correct score markets, it’s worth bearing in mind that Arsenal have conceded more goals than any other Premier League club.

However they have managed to keep clean sheets in 8 of their last 12 games at the Emirates, so  split stakes on a 2-0 victory at 7.5 with bet365 and Paddy Power, and 2-1 at a 8.5 with bet365 looks the best way to play.
