ARSENAL 2-1 BOLTON
(Carling Cup 4th Round)
Arsenal progressed to the quarter finals of the carling cup after coming back from 1-0 down, thanks to goals from Andrei Arshavin and Park Ju Young.
The home side welcomed back Tomas Vermaelen after two months out and handed a first team debut to young right back Nico Yennaris. Arsene Wenger opted for a mix of experience and youth, with Arshavin, Benayoun and Squillaci starting alongside the likes of Frimpong and Chamberlain.
Park and Chamberlain both squandered opportunities in the early minutes to put Arsenal ahead, before Bolton offered something going forward when Darren Pratley forced a smart save from Lukasz Fabianski.
Yossi Benayoun flashed a shot wide after good work down the left. Bolton keeper Adam Bogdan had to be called into action to prevent a Vermaelen free-kick from going in, before denying Park twice to keep the scores level going in at half time.
With the home crowd expecting Arsenal to strike first in the second half, it was the visitors who drew first blood through former gunner Fabrice Muamba as he slammed home from close range.
The goal was certainly a wake-up call for the hosts, in particular Andrei Arshavin who for ten minutes took centre stage, first drilling home the equaliser then setting up Park to curl his first goal for the club, to complete the turn-around.
But Bolton came back strongly, it took a timely block from Vermaelen to deny Ivan Klasnic in the area, then Fabianski denied Gael Kakuta from a free-kick.
Then came a heart in mouth moment for all Gunners as the polish keeper somehow managed to tip over a Chris Eagles shot over the bar, though he would have been red faced if had went in. But he reassured the home faithful with a good block to deny Klasnic before parrying Gary Cahill’s goal bound header.
Arsenal managed to see out the game to advance into the quarter-finals and continue their recent spate of victories.

I'd love to see video highlights of Fabianski during this game. Apart from almost punished howler it looks like he had a brilliant match.
