A Premier League club’s lengthy courtship of Fiorentina’s Montenegro forward Stefan Jovetic has been revealed by Mirror Football.
It has emerged that the striker is Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger’s top summer target, as he looks to bolster his side’s attack.
The Mirror has revealed how the North London club have been sending scouts over to the Italian city of Florence to watch Jovetic on a weekly basis, and have subsequently concluded that Jovetic matches what Wenger is after.
The player, who has 34 goals in 108 senior appearances for the Italian club since joining from Partizan Belgrade in 2008, is unlikely to come cheap however. Luckily Arsenal look set to finally open their chequebook this summer, in an attempt to avoid a repeat of this campaign’s disappointing return.
A potential snag may arise should Arsenal fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League though. Wenger is said to be sweating on finishing 4th in order to successfully capture several players that he has lined up.
Disgruntled Arsenal fans have been disappointed to see bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur’s outperforming them, and are therefore looking to spend big to overturn the gap that has emerged between the two North London clubs.

If Arsenal dont finish 4th we wont be able to sign players, if we do finish 4th that would be the perfect validation for Wenger to not sign anyone. Has to be seen to be believed I'm afraid.
