Interesting noises coming from The Metro today as they claim out of favour Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas could be the subject of a bidding war between Arsenal and Liverpool this coming summer.
It is no secret now that Mourinho views Casillas as inferior to new goalkeeper Diego Lopez and it looks as though sitting on the bench doing nothing, rather than mostly standing in goal watching Ronaldo score, has taken its toll on the Real Madrid icon.
The move would certainly be a step up for both Arsenal and Liverpool as Casillas still has plenty of ability to offer any side in world-football. As long as Jose Mourinho isn’t in charge, it seems.
Anyway, somewhat counter-productively Arsenal also view Liverpool’s Pepe Reina as a potential target, which makes this writer ponder why Liverpool themselves are looking for a new goalkeeper with such a talent already between the sticks. The next famous but out of favour Spanish goalkeeper could be born in Liverpool!
David De Gea of Manchester United will be hoping this sudden outbreak that is spreading across European football won’t inflict Old Trafford gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson as he has excelled and developed greatly this season.
Other targets I hear you cry? Arsenal are also looking at Swansea “legend” Michael Vorm. As good a goalkeeper as Vorm is, that definatly smacks of a plan B…

Another con headline. Where is the quote from Casillas saying he favours an Arsenal move?
