Cazorla beats fellow Gunners to capture inaugural award

Welcome
to the final leg of the Gunners Town Awards where we reveal the winners as
chosen by you over the past week. The team gave to you their nominations and
reasonings for the awards and you have hit us with your response to that, so
thank you for getting involved.

Today marks the day that we crown the Player of
the Season award and this one wasn’t even close. The Gunners Town writers voted
for a mixture of players, including Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and
Kieran Gibbs.

However, you flooded to the site to pick Santi
Cazorla as your Player of the Season with the Spaniard commanding 59% of the
voting.

The full results are below as well as a
selection of comments from those who voted.

My player of the season has got to be Santi the Magician. He is awesome
and superb. He brings back our creativity and magnitude in the middle of the
pack. My second best is Lukas Podolski, Theo Walcott and Laurent Koscielny. In fact,
they are all brilliant. I love them all.

Santi Cazorla is the best for he has been
outstanding even playing in a wider position.

I finally voted for Santi Cazorla but it was a
hard choice between him and the only other player that couldn’t be left off of
the starting team, Mikel Arteta. I can’t believe that he is receiving so few
votes. If he wasn’t on the pitch our chance of a good result dropped
tremendously. Yes, he is not a Gilberto Silva or Patrick Vieira type DM but he
was very effective in that role, especially when paired with the Energizer
bunny, Aaron Ramsey.

Third on my list is Per Mertesacker. A rock all
year, you only need the fingers on one hand to count the number of mistakes
that he made. Another name that was an automatic on the team sheet.

For me Aaron Ramsey was the hero of the season.
