Arsenal outside odds for Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez

Hello and welcome to the weekly
betting blog where we try and take some money from those nasty bookies. As is
the norm we will start looking at this week’s transfer news as this week has
seen the temperature of the transfer market turned up a notch.

Wayne Rooney
has been in the news all week and with Chelsea confirming they have made a bid.
It could well be a two-horse race between them and Arsenal. Chelski are as
short as 1/5 in places but a best priced 4/9 to make Rooney the next big money
signing. Arsenal are a very tasty 12/1 with one firm and as low as 6/1 with
another.

Luis Suarez
is another striker who has been all over the back pages this past week. Considering
Liverpool themselves admitted that Arsenal made a bid and there is talk of
another he is pretty backable at 3/1. Real Madrid are favourites to land him
though at 13/8. I have to say the 3/1 to Arsenal is the bet to get your teeth
into.

Gonzalo
Higuain is also 3/1 to become a Gooner this window, it appears that Arsenal’s
interest has cooled somewhat now they have the smell of a finer stag in their
nostrils. It could still happen but now Napoli have entered the race and they
have cash on the hip it seems this boat has sailed.

One other
player who is again 3/1 to join the Arsenal is Alex McCarthy , those in the
know say we made a bid early in the summer, time will tell if we go back but
3/1 is another worth considering.

Cesc
Fabregas’ odds have been very volatile this week after it was revealed Manchester
United bid for his services. He was 10/1 to rejoin at one point but has
levelled out again at 7/2. I still think there are too many people saying the
same thing for there not to be smoke without fire in this case. Again I`ll say
it is worth a couple of quid at those odds.

Some good
news this week though as Gervinho is heavily linked with a move away from the
club. He didn’t travel on tour probably due to the fact they couldn’t charter a
plane large enough for his head. Roma are the 1/4 favourites to land him. If
they are struggling to pay his airfare I’d happily volunteer to give the lad a
piggyback all the way to Rome to ensure this move happens.

It’s not
often I feature a Tottenham Hotspur player but with news Manchester United are
to bid £60m for the star of The Planet Of the Apes star , I thought I’d flag up
he is 7/2 to join United this summer.

With the
season fast approaching it’s probably a goodtime to focus on each division and
try to pick out a few teams that will give us a run for our money. This week we’ll
start by looking at League 2.

Portsmouth
are early Favourites at 9/2 for the title and EVS to gain promotion.
Chesterfield are next best priced at 9/1 for the title with promotion priced at
2/1, Fleetwood Town have exactly the same odds as Chesterfield. A lively
outsider that should be considered are Burton Albion at 25/1 to go up as champions
with promotion 11/2.

At the other
end of the table Dagenham & Redbridge are favourites to drop out of the
Football League, Plymouth Argyle only escaped last season by the skin of their
teeth and look to be a decent value bet for relegation at 12/1 . AFC Wimbledon
are around 7/1 to sink without trace.

Odds on the
first manager to leave his post throw up a few names from days gone by. Tango
Man Phil Brown is 6/1 to be given his cards first and let’s face it couldn’t
happen to a nicer bloke. Guy Whittingham of Portsmouth is 14/1 and if they
don’t get off to a good start he could be right under the cosh to deliver good
results. Nigel Worthington over at York City is 16/1 to get his P45. If you
want a long shot then 66/1 that no manager leaves is the one for you.

The top goalscorer
market is all a much of a muchness with the market headed by three guys on 14/1
(David Connolly, Tom Craddock and Dave Kitson) with those odds it may be worth
considering an each way tickle as its ¼ the odds for a Top four finish.

Saturday
Night sees Dereck Chisora take on Malik Scott in a boxing match, Scott is EVS
to win the bout with Chisora 11/10 and the Draw 25/1.

Scott to win
by KO, TKO or Disqualification is a tasty 9/1

Scott to win
by Decision or Technical Decision is 13/8

Scott on
Points is 6/4

Chisora to
win by KO, TKO or Disqualification is 4/1

Chisora to
win by Decision or Technical Decision 2/1

Chisora on
Points 7/4

This weeks
£10 Bet is Malik Scott to win in Group Rounds 7-9 @ 20/1

As ever
please only ever bet with what you don’t mind losing & there`s no such
thing as a dead cert. Feel free to discuss any or all of the above with me on
