18 months ago, according to many, Joel Nathaniel Campbell Samuels was the man, the man to save The Arsenal.
.
Off the back of a decent World Cup, there were calls to fast track him into the first team to replace Giroud and/or Sanogoals up front to spearhead Arsenal’s attack.
Again, he was overlooked and again he was shipped out on loan, this time to Villareal.
.
Well, now it look like his Arsenal journey is complete and his time at Arsenal may have finally arrived.
.
After five years, four loans and with our first six choice right sided players (Theo, Ox, Rambo, Jack, Wellbez and Rocky) all injured, Joel is the last man standing and is in line for his first Premier League start against Swansea.
To date, his Arsenal career has been pretty underwhelming, with 5 appearances, in 5 years, across all competitions (with no goals) and when he has crossed the white line he’s been pretty anonymous.
.
He did score 11 goals in 43 appearances for Olympiakos in 13/14 and he has 10 goals to his name at international level, which means he does have a vague idea where the back of the net is.
So on Saturday he will get his chance to show whether Arsene was right to keep him on the books last summer.
Le Coq took his chance when injuries threw him a lifeline, can Billy do the same or will he be on the next flight back to San Jose as another young hopeful who didn’t make the grade.
