Now or never Arsene
The 2016/17 Premier League season is finally here and nobody is feeling the pressure more than Arsene Wenger. Ultimately, this campaign could define the Frenchman’s legacy at the club; will he go down as a hero or somebody who outstayed his welcome? Only time will tell but another Premier League title would certainly help his cause – especially as a very large number of supporters want the Gunners boss to step down.
In fact, a fair proportion of Arsenal fans have been calling for Wenger’s head for quite some time now. And if truth be told, it is easy to understand why. The club could have, and probably should have, won at least two additional titles since ‘the Invincibles’ romped to the crown in 2004. Simply put, Arsenal have failed to inspire confidence throughout the last few years and the Emirates Stadium faithful have had enough. The Gunners cannot afford to fall short again; but more importantly, Wenger cannot afford to fall short again. At least he can walk away with his head held high if Arsenal can at least mount a genuine challenge this season.
Recently, Wenger’s stubbornness and failure to act in the transfer market have both grated on Arsenal supporters. The Gunners have been in dire need of a genuine attacking threat to compete with Olivier Giroud up front but Wenger has opted to place all of his faith in the France international on more than one occasion. Unfortunately, it looks like Wenger may be about to do the same thing again this season – Arsenal have been linked with a few striking options this summer but Wenger hasn’t exactly pushed hard for transfer funds…
At the time of writing, Arsenal are 6/1 in Betway’s football betting markets to win the title and many punters will be backing Wenger’s men after their transfer activity earlier this summer. Granit Xhaka has been Arsenal’s top signing and the Switzerland star carries plenty of pressure on his shoulders after his £35 million price tag. In addition, the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joel Campbell and Alex Iwobi will all play key roles for the Gunners this season; and Wenger will be desperate to make sure his three speedsters are heavily involved.
However, Arsene Wenger is still a very good manager. Yes, the Gunners have had their fair share of struggles against the Premier League’s “lesser” sides but Arsenal always seem to turn on the style when it matters most. Also, does finishing in the top four seriously rank as a poor season? If so, that’s very harsh. England’s top flight is now more competitive than ever before and qualification for the Champions League has to be the number one priority before you even consider winning the title. That’s just the way it is.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the Emirates Stadium would be a strange place without Arsene Wenger – but that is half the problem. Too many fans are scared of change but the Gunners NEED change to get back to the top of English football. Right now, Arsenal have a decent squad and an outside chance of winning the title but until Wenger’s entire mind-set and philosophy changes, the club will fail. Unless of course you count finishing fourth every season as a success – which most Arsenal fans don’t…

Wenger will be outclassed by too many managers this season to stay in the top 4. He should have been sacked after last season.

Wenger is history. The only reason he is not resigning is because due to his obvious poor planning, he has no clue what to do with his life after retirement. He should have moved early to sign a striker and central defender instead of playing his parallel universe poker game where he rules the transfer market the same way he does at Arsenal. Outside the bubble that is Arsenal, selling clubs look out for their own interest and value their players as they see fit. They do not have to follow Wenger’s imaginary valuations, 4th place trophies or imaginary poker tournaments.
Imho,Arsenal could have won at least one if not 2/3 epl titles. Wenger has cocked up and
shd pay the price for repeated failure unlike other top guys like Ancelotti and Mancini.These guys have won the epl and have been sacked. Whats so great/special about the FM .SIF according to Mourino.itsI am afraid this season could be another disappointing one. Wenger’ has failed to shore up the defence asap.

Even his obsession about attack is a fraud as he goes into another season with a striker who failed to score for 16 matches and another one who has not yet decided where is his best position, apart from staying on the bench for more than half a season
