Are Arsenal getting bored of Emery? As I watched on with a slight grimace at the first few games of Arsenal’s new season, I kept telling myself “it’s a process, it’s a process, it’s a process “. There was a disjointedness about the team, which you’d almost allow due to the fact Unai Emery had […]
For Arsenal fans, victory on Wednesday evening is all that will matter. A European trophy, a return to the Champions League and a significant influx of cash that will hopefully give Emery the tools to rebuild and restructure a somewhat dysfunctional squad will be significant reward for what has been at times an underwhelming season. […]
Arsenal player reviews 18/19 So the PL season has ended, and it’s time to review the players’ performances. Our star strikers, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, have received wide plaudits this season. Auba won the Premier League Golden Boot, shared with Liverpool’s Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. Bernd Leno has been an […]
I shared the feelings of optimism tempered by pessimistic thoughts described in Mike McDonald`s excellent article and unfortunately, the pessimism has come to the fore. We need to beat Chelsea now (provided we beat Valencia ) to get into the Championship League and in present form Chelsea must be favourites because while Arsenal have stagnated, […]
OVERTAKING or OVERTAKEN? Positives, Needs and Hopes I watched Watford today. I’ve been watching Everton recently. Wolves and Leicester I’ve seen even more often. Not just in action but on paper all these teams have at least half their first eleven that would get in ours. They just need more belief to play like a […]
Leicester City vs. Arsenal Premier League preview We have another away day, and this time at the King Power Stadium, the home of Leicester City. It’s been a mixed season for Leicester, with the untimely death of their owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. Seasoned manager Brendan Rodgers has also come in, and despite not achieving fully […]
‘WHO STOLE THE JUMPERS?’ Positives, Needs and Hopes One of Unai Emery’s very first soundbites was, “We want to be protagonists!” I’m glad he wants to be as all fans love attacking football but we are protagonists only every once in a while. Personally, I would not have made this statement without the individual […]
Arsenal 2-3 Crystal Palace Premier League Review Our top four hopes have been dented, and in some ways shattered. Roy Hodgson has proven he’s no dead/joke manager since his game plan worked a treat. And despite Manchester United and Spurs losing, we couldn’t capitalise on their failures. We failed just as much. This […]
‘THE £100 MILLION UPGRADE’ Positives, Needs and Hopes I’ve decided to not cause myself any further pain. It would be super easy to go in two footed on that selection and performance but no doubt you’ve read that over and over already as it’s 35 minutes after the final whistle and that’s all I’ve read. […]
Watford vs. Arsenal Premier League preview We face Watford, and a certain Mr. Deeney, who notably said we lacked the balls (essentially) when he beat us 2-1 in 2017. This comment was perhaps a bit base, since it was on national TV (BT Sport), but it was warranted. We did lack the “cojones” […]
