With the untimely injury to Alexandre Lacazette, Wenger is facing an unwanted situation. With Aubameyang being Europa League ineligible, combined with the sales of Giroud and Walcott, the simple fact is that Danny Welbeck is Arsenal’s only senior striking option for this Thursday. Indeed, the England International maybe the sole option, if we set aside […]
So after the more than disappointing North London Derby a lot of the media have been using Lacazette as a scapegoat. Lacazette’s recent performances have doubtlessly been very short of his best but is this criticism fair? After Giroud’s performance for Chelsea on Monday night I’m sure a lot of Arsenal fans will be kicking […]
With the Europa League game very soon, and the prospect of winning a third European trophy, I wanted to lighten our negative mood. And not just after losing to the scum. But in our inconsistent displays and weak mentality. Opinions will naturally differ, but these are my favourite European games*: Arsenal 7-0 Sparta Prague 1993/94 […]
All aboard the time machine. I’ve set the dial back to 1973 for this week’s Highbury Hero. To the time when an Irish wizard with a left foot like a wand burst onto the scene and became one of the finest players ever to pull on an Arsenal shirt. Worshipped by the Arsenal fans, including […]
Whether you’re Wenger in, Wenger out or indeed if you’re Wenger shake it all about, there is a distinct desire for something to be done at Arsenal to change recent fortunes. The lily white neighbours are getting a little too smug and the media are having a little much too fun writing off Arsenal’s demise. […]
Not “If”, but “When” Nobody can say for sure when Wenger will leave Arsenal -except Arséne himself, of course – but the beleaguered manager has to go eventually. Surely? Most, it would seem, would prefer sooner rather than later. A bigger question might be: who is going to replace him? Events this summer indicate […]
It seems that Grant Xhaka is the current Arsenal first teamer facing the scrutiny of a ‘hard to please’ Gooner fanbase. This may well be largely because of what he isn’t rather than what he is. Whether Wenger sold us on an idea, other ‘knowledgeable’ fans on social media did or the media did, the […]
Okay, I did give it large pre-match in an article, and I take it back, largely. Yes, they were the better team. But power shift? Ha-ha…no. Last season, they finished above us, but then we won something. I strongly believe the same will occur this season. And they can cite who had the better season […]
If I were a neutral, or a fan of some mid-table PL club, who only casually follows Arsenal by means of checking the results, I would be astonished this morning. How can top-level club, seemingly fighting for the top 4, smash Palace 4-1 and then go down to Swansea inside 10 days? How can that […]
It’s the early kick-off for the North London derby today, as Arsenal play what will be their last league game for almost three weeks. Certainly a space oddity if you ask me, but it’s down to cup games in-between. It won’t be three weeks of rest for the Gunners of course, because Wenger’s men still […]
