Whilst many pundits in the UK have thrown about the usual names when thinking of players in Spain that might be useful to Arsenal, I’d like to take a much more different approach.
Let’s be realistic, Arséne likes to buy players that are a bargain, that are on the young side and that have the skill set to play the style of football Arsenal play. This being the case, the usual names of Mata, Benzema, Cazorla, and others simply doesn’t meet the criteria for one reason or the other.
My recommendation meets the criteria that Arséne looks for and is spot on the roster where we need cover; defensive midfield. His name is Recio; real name José Luis García del Pozo.
Recio is a talented young central midfielder. He is a good size, strong and is fleet of foot, a nice combination to have. He currently plies his trade at Málaga CF.
Recio signs his first professional deal with Malaga
When he made his debut as manager of the club, Manuel Pellegrini was determined to mix players from the youth ranks that were otherwise overlooked by his predecessor, with the additions the new owners began to bring in. The new, more experienced players had a nice effect on the young players that were now allowed to gain the valuable experience they were denied before. Recio was one of those players.
He debuted in La Copa del Rey and made his subsequent league debut just days later. He impressed enough in his first few games to become a mainstay in the middle for Málaga. He links play well and is very helpful to a defense that had many new additions and had trouble in communication.
Recio would be a perfect backup for Song. Many people will say that Frimpong is just that, but we have yet to see Emmanuel for a full season, unfortunately, and with the departure of Denilson, there is a gap to fill.
Recio is a young player that has all the tools to succeed. He was very impressive in his first month at Málaga, so much so that he penned his first professional contract tying him to the club through 2015 and was also selected for the U-20 Spanish team.
For Arsenal’s need for grit and grace in the middle of the field, I could see Recio as a nice addition and a typical Wenger pick-up. Young, talented and cheap!
You seem to be forgetting one thing….. Malaga CF is owned by Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani .
Yea what you gonna do boss they don't need to sell there, the new man shitty of Spain, why don't you lot do your research before you write this drivel
Ok. Please read the intro before commenting.
Scouting report on one player from the country you reside that you would recommend that meets Arsenal's needs and philosophy.
This was in no way any attempt to say he was a real target.
It was a scouting report on a good up and coming player.
No more.
Cheers for reading.
