In the news today:
While Manchester City wrapped up their deal for Argentine international, Sergio Aguero last week, Arsenal are set to rival Tottenham in the pursuit of another.
Mauro Zárate, formerly of Birmingham City during a 2008 loan spell, is currently on Lazio’s roster where he has fast become a fans’ favourite where he won the Coppa Italia with the Roma based outfit.
Zárate, 24, and his agent are set to meet Arsenal and Tottenham representatives in the coming days, according to reports.
The fee for Zárate is said to be around £14m with Lazio hoping to hang on to their man. Claudio Lotitio, Lazio’s president, said last month: “Zárate is not on the market, but it is clear that if a top offer was to arrive it would be considered.”
