In the news today:
Arsenal’s bright young defender, Kyle Bartley has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at the club.
Bartley, 20, was born in Manchester and was snared by Arsenal from Bolton’s youth setup in 2009. The defender won plaudits last season during a loan spell with Sheffield United, before signing a similar deal with Rangers.
It was north of the border where he made his biggest impression, despite playing just 5 games for the Gers. Rangers’ manager, Ally McCoist is known to have wanted the youngster to return but while Wenger’s search for a new centre-back goes on, it’s thought that Bartley could well be the answer to that void.
A club statement released last night said: “Everyone at the club is looking forward to Kyle’s continued contribution and development with the club.”
The youngster is an England youth international and will be hoping to compete this season with the likes of Djourou, Vermaelen and Kosielny for a starting berth.
Good news for Arsenal?

Bartley is a player I admire. Tall physical and young, definitely not the CB Arsenal fans want but a promising CB nonetheless. Honestly i'll prefer giving him a chance in the Carling Cup games maybe but right now it appears we have too many {average looking}center backs at the club but Arsene is under pressure to buy. I pray he figures a way out of this mire.
