In the news today:
Following Arsenal’s 8-2 spanking at Old Trafford a few weeks ago, the last person you would expect to be bigging-up and Arsenal title challenge would be Sir Alex Ferguson, but perhaps the fiery Scot is mellowing in his old age.
He also said that he expected Tottenham to challenge for the gong, despite their 5-1 thrashing at The Etihad Stadium to Manchester City.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Fergie said: “You can say five or six teams will be up there. It’s always hard to win the league … you’ve got Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, ourselves, City – it’s a really difficult league to win.”
You never know with Fergie though; is this early mind games setting in, or is he genuinely wary of an Arsenal backlash? Time will tell…

dont be carried away: its early mind games. alex usually talks up chances for teams he knows that DONT have a chance. its just like an early consolation. for actual contenders, he talks down on them. listen to his comments on chelsea and man city.
Maybe Fergie is just talking Arsenal up because he knows if he is to win the league this year, he needs us to beath Spurs, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
previous comments are spot on….fergie wants to support an arsenal team that is not challenging man utd…he would like everything to remain as it is at arsenal…no changes.
when fergie is spitting venom our way ..then you know we have a team that is dangerous to his plans for football domination
