A trip to Anfield awaits Arsenal this weekend, and they are 3.8 shots with Betfred and Boylesports to get the better of Liverpool and put an end to their unbeaten home record.The Gunners bounced back to form last weekend when coming from two nil down to thrash Spurs 5-2, and it’s vital that they build on that performance having previously looked to be losing it.
However they will need to be at their best to beat Kenny Dalglish’s side who are unbeaten on their own patch and beginning to mount a challenge for the coveted top four finish to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
The Reds were not at their best when beating Cardiff in the carling Cup to secure their first silverware for six years, but have refused to lie down against their major rivals this season and have looked more dangerous since the return of Luis Suarez.
But having said that they have also failed to beat some mediocre opponents at home, and if the real Arsenal turns up they have every chance of victory.
The problem for Arsene Wenger is that the side has been hit badly by injuries, and they have lost four of their nine last matches.
Those defeats included a 4-0 mauling at the hands of AC Milan in the Champions League, and put Wenger under pressure to turn things around quickly.
But he is certainly not a man to lie down without a fight, and is sure to have instilled into his players the importance of this match.
As far as the stats are concerned there is also every reason to believe that Arsenal can come away with a share of the spoils at the very least.
Six of the last 9 matches between the two sides have ended as draws, and on paper there is very little to choose between them.
It is all likely to come down to which Arsenal turns up on Merseyside, and I am hoping it will be the one that turned on the style at White Hart lane last weekend.
As far as the first goalscorer market, it’s that man Robin van Persie that once again heads the betting.
The Dutchman is a top priced 6.5 with bet365, and that does look a bit of value as he is by far the most likely to unlock the
Liverpool defence and hopefully fire Arsenal to an ultimate victory.
The other bet that makes some appeal is over 2.5 goals at 1.91 with Boylesports.
Arsenal have managed to keep only three clean sheets in the last 20 PL away games, and that suggest that they could well need to net twice or more to win.
