Arsenal Back on Track to Challenge Man City For The Title

Arsenal’s recent 3-1 triumph over Manchester United has positioned them as strong contenders against Manchester City for this season’s Premier League title. The current best non gamstop casinos all still have Manchester city as strong favourites to lift the title at 4/9 with Arsenal second favourites at 7/1. Man city have a perfect record of 4 wins out of 4 games and sit top of the table with 12 points, Arsenal joint second with 10 points.

In a dramatic match, Declan Rice’s 96th-minute debut goal for the Gunners was the turning point, followed by a later strike by Gabriel Jesus. Initially, Marcus Rashford gave United the lead after a setup by Christian Eriksen. However, Arsenal’s captain Martin Odegaard quickly levelled the score, thanks to an assist from Gabriel Martinelli.

Having moved from West Ham to Arsenal in the summer, Rice was urged to increase his goal tally to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with midfield legends like Graeme Souness, Roy Keane, Steven Gerrard, and Frank Lampard. With six added minutes to the game, Rice impressively chested a deep corner from Bukayo Saka and confidently sent the ball to the net, marking his memorable first goal for Arsenal.

Rice’s momentous goal was made even more significant as Arsenal had previously been denied a penalty and had just survived a VAR call against United. With the stadium roaring in delight, Gabriel Jesus added the icing on the cake with another goal deep into injury time.

This victory dealt a heavy blow to United’s confidence, especially after a rumoured decision by the Glazers not to sell the club and a perceived stagnation in the team’s progress since Erik ten Hag’s previous season leadership.

The game showcased Rice’s dominance, effortlessly controlling the midfield, and highlighting why he was such a valued acquisition. On the contrary, Kai Havertz, a £65m signing from Chelsea, struggled to find his footing, squandering a golden opportunity early in the game.

Despite Arsenal’s dominant play, United initially took the lead after an error by Havertz. Rashford exploited this, curling a shot around Arsenal’s defence. This joy was short-lived as Odegaard quickly equalised with a powerful side-footed strike. The game also saw controversial moments, with Arsenal feeling aggrieved over a VAR-overturned penalty.

Arsenal had a heart-stopping moment when United substitute Alejandro Garnacho seemed to have scored, only for VAR to rule it offside. The day belonged to Rice and Jesus, whose late goals ensured a much-needed win for the Gunners.
