Stop the abuse. You look silly and small Michael Oliver and VAR got it wrong

Myles Lewis-Skelly should not have been sent off. I’m annoyed, frustrated and angry, but that’s it. You may believe that Oliver has been paid off by City or that he’s a Newcastle fan. You may believe that PGMOL and the FA hate Arsenal and that they have an underground network of lizard people plotting our downfall.

That’s cool, everyone has a right to their opinion. What you don’t have a right to, is issuing death threats to another human being because he pissed you off. I wrote the below poem as part of ‘Welcome To The Goonerverse’ and I urge anyone hiding behind their computer screen to read it, before you type something else you wouldn’t say to someone’s face.

An ode to Arsenal keyboard warriors: Stop the abuse, you look silly and small

Football’s not a matter of life and death

In the grand scheme it’s not that important at all

There are bigger things in life than this

Stop the abuse, you look silly and small.

Please guys, please, please relax

Please guys, please, please cease the abuse

Please guys, please reign in the attacks

Please guys, there really is no excuse

Yes, true Gooners have passion, and want to win

But they can also be magnanimous, and accept a defeat

Victory through harmony, take a loss with a grin

Close your laptop and get out of your seat

You earn success, it is not a right

You earn success, it is not owed

To earn success, you must be ready to fight

Fight for success, for it to be bestowed

And real success is not simply bought

Money will not always turn all to gold

The real success that should be taught

Is to be humble, but also courageous and bold

Football’s not a matter of life and death

In the grand scheme it’s not that important at all

There are bigger things in life than this

Stop the abuse, you look silly and small.

Death threats are wrong but how do we know the PGMOL is being honest about them? We’re supposed to just take their word as 100% honest without any evidence? How do we know it was an Arsenal fan, maybe it was a neutral who’s accumulator got ruined or a rival fan pretending to be a Gooner to make us look bad? Work with the facts we know, if there was genuine death threats the police will resolve them – that’s none of our business, don’t let the PGMOL continually hide behind excuses and playing the victim.

The poem was originally written and published in ‘Welcome to the Goonerverse’ & was directed at trolls who hide behind their keyboards and I believe it is relevant, whether the treats are real or not

Danny, I think it’s safe by now to assume that it’s genuine. If you involve the police you can’t be making this sort of thing up. It’s not established who the perp is, but most likely will turn out to be a youngster (like the one who did this to Havertz wife last week)

The action, or whatever you wish to refer to it as, performed by Lewis-Skelly was not in any way accidental. Was it: an attempted tackle, trip or kick? If it was a tackle, then he needs to go straight back to the Academy. A trip: yellow card. Kick. red. I’ve watched it a few times and am still undecided, so Ill be kind and say it was trip gone wrong, but I’m not entirely convinced that he didn’t kick Doherty
