He may only be a tender 17 years of age, but he is being hailed as the successor to Ashley Cole for Chelsea.
The Southampton teenager has certainly developed this season flourishing in the fast paced Premier League environment.
Despite this, he may want to carefully think about his options should he reach the very top of the game.
If he truly is a star then he will not be short of offers to come in the future. Whilst it may be tempting to move with the bright lights shining in his face, he needs to consider playing time.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea may all maintain an interest but at Premier League level he will learn his game playing week in week out. Being part of a squad can never replace game time.
There has already been a £10 million fee agreed with the Blues but he needs guidance at this current time. Whilst the managerial situation remains uncertain at Stamford Bridge he would be wise to hold back.
Eden Hazard could tell him a thing or two about being a hot prospect and signing for a managerless club I am sure. It does not always work out to be instant success.
Whether Luke Shaw makes it to the top is yet to be seen, but he certainly has the potential.
Grant Miles
I agree with most of your opinion regarding Luke, with the exception of the paragraph stating that an offer of £10 million has already been agreed with Chelsea.
I challenge you Grant, to print the evidence of such an offer. It is purely the usual fictional tosh that the majority of sports writers deliver on numerous forums and within the National and local press.
You do your own credibility, such as you may have, no favours by writing that which is unsubstantiated or factual from any football source namely either Chelsea or Southampton official sources.
Doubt he will be going anywhere at present at least. Hopefully he will build a long and successful career where he is rather than being plundered to be another bench warmer.
Luke Shaw has agreed a new long term contract with Southampton and your statement regarding £10m fee agreed with Chelsea is very much incorrect. £10m was rejected in the January transfer window, no fee is agreed with any team. Shaw will be a Saints player for a while yet.
Where do you make up your numbers from?
To educate bigger club fans: since summer 2009 Saints have been a buying club. The Swiss billionaire that took over and expertly managed by Cortese (even if that doesn't sit too well with me) has meant bigger clubs now won't be getting any of the Saints players on the cheap.
Full market value that Saints are happy with or no deal.
