The Kronke v Usmanov Cold War Hots up – The Far Side View

After much negotiation, with the final fee agreed at ‘one bag of pickle onion monster munch and a scotch egg’ (I miss scotch eggs, they don’t have them down here) and with all the paperwork signed and registered, THE SUNDAY MORNING GOONER’s transfer to WTTGT is complete.

So without further pontificating….. ‘Welcome to my world’, THE FAR SIDE VIEW, a weekly take on an Arsenal story, where I hope to show you the world in my eyes?

Many Cold War battles have ensued over time

There was Nikita Khrushchev vs. John F Kennedy

Leonid Brezhnev vs. Richard Nixon

and even Rocky Balboa vs. Ivan Drago

But as Frankie Goes To Hollywood once mused:

“When two tribes go to war, a point is all that you can score”

And so as we reach the end of another trophyless season, Russia’s richest oligarch is attempting to reignite Arsenal’s Cold War stand off with America’s foremost sport mogul, in a ruse to score brownie points with the supporters.

Usmanov recently said that “The team has no superstars now,” and that majority stakeholder Stan Kroenke “doesn’t show any wish to create a winning team”. When asked if Kroenke would be happy if Arsenal were to finish fourth, Usmanov replied “probably”.

The Arsenal board declined advances to directly respond to these latest comments and referred reporters to Ivan Gazidis’ comments from October’s board meeting, stating that Kroenke and other board members had a “shared ambition” to win trophies.

Usmanov added, “He will think what to do with Arsenal at the end of the season. In our understanding, Kroenke has no plans to sell his stake, but we also won’t sell out, as we are the team’s fans.”

It’s been six years now and no resolution is in sight, maybe they should heed some further Holly Johnson thoughts and embrace:

“The power of love, a force from above, cleaning my soul, flame on burn desire, love with tongues of fire, purge the soul, MAKE LOVE YOUR GOAL” and, in the best interest of the club (which they both claim to have at heart), kiss, make up and try to work together.

After all even Gorbachev and Reagan were friends in the end.

Usmanov is the answer for arsenal success, Usmanov shows his intention for taking over The Mighty Arsenal is not abt business but pure passion for Arsenal and shuld given a chance he can give it all to arsenal success but the greedy board had done everything to ensure this individual don't get the control over arsenal. Maybe we as fans and die hard gooners must come up with good strategy to ensure all bad camp have been destroyed and Usmanov takes over.

Usmanov is powerless. Kroenke controls well over 50% of the voting. Usmanov would want to wing things. Kroenke wants to enjoy the profit and cash flow. He only wants to win things if it enhances profit and cash flow. Same as his various Sports clubs in n. America. SIMPLE.
