Welcome once again to the weekly blog
that tries to put some cash in your pockets. As usual I will look at how odds
have changed in players linked to Arsenal this summer.
Cesc
Fabregas’ price has dipped slightly and can still be had at 7/2. I’d still be
tempted to have a wager on at those odds.
Ashley
Williams is in some places 1/3 on to join Arsenal despite reports in the media that
Arsene Wenger is reluctant to spend £10m on a proven Premier League defender
who’s also his national team’s skipper, (Gonzalo Higuain’s betting market was
suspended when his odds reached 1/3) if you think Ashley Williams may yet still
pull on the red and white of Arsenal next season you can still get evens on
this.
Marouane Fellaini
is mostly odds on now to join The Arsenal but can still be had 24/13 which is
just shy of 2/1.
Stevan
Jovetic can now be had at 12/1 to become a Gooner probably due to fact the
Higuain deal seems a stonewaller.
If you still
think Wayne Rooney will be banging the goals in next year for The Arsenal you
can get a best priced 9/2 on this occurring. (Don’t let the possible Higuain
deal put you off, after all a top club needs a plethora of strikers as it
stands Arsene has shown his reluctance to play Lukas Podolski and even Theo Walcott
through the centre unless forced to, in his pomp Arsene at one point could call
upon the services of Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Kanu AND Davor Suker) This
is a lively market and I’d say 9/2 still represents a decent bet.
One club
that haven’t been linked with a move for Rooney is Juventus this despite being
linked with every striker available recently. Maybe this is one Old Lady that
doesn’t fancy Rooney? If you think it could happen thats a 40/1 shot.
Now that the
fixtures have come out we can perhaps have a butchers at the odds for Arsenal
to be top when the mulled wine is simmering on the hob and the kids are crying
because there are no batteries for the crap that Grandparents have bought them.
Arsenal to
be top at Christmas is 13/2, I’d be inclined to look at Manchester City who
seem to have a much easier opening half of the season and don’t really play any
of the top sides in “clumps” like The Arsenal seem to. If Arsenal are there or
thereabouts after March then we could yet see the PL Trophy being paraded by
whomever is Arsenal’s captain next May, and 12/1 is the current price (this
price WILL drop when Arsenal make their presence felt in the transfer market)
Arsenal to
be the top-placed London team is a very tasty 10/3, Chelsea lead this market
and are odds on 3/10 here. Tottenham Hotspur are long outsiders in this market
at 7/1.
With this
week’s entertainment being provided up at the Looney Toons with JFK (Joe
Fucking Kinnear) being appointed above Alan Pardew’s head the next manager to
leave market makes interesting reading. Pardew heads this market at 2/1, Michael
Laudrup is second favourite at 11/4. An interesting one here though is Paolo Di
Canio at 18/1. Or if you want a longshot and fancy Arsene Wenger to be the
first manager to leave the odds here are 66/1.
On to
another couple of Sporting Events now and this Saturday sees the British and
Irish Lions take on the Aussies in the first Test. The Lions are 4/6 to roar
come the final whistle and there could be some better value in the HT/FT
market. Aus/Lions is 13/2 with Lions/Lions a best priced 13/10.
Another big sporting
event that starts this coming week is Wimbledon. Those fancying Andy Murray to
add to his US Open title can get odds of 15/4 on him winning (odds on Murray
winning having been 2 sets to love DOWN at some point is a much better 14/1),
however the draw hasn’t been kind and he may end up having to beat Roger Federer,
Rafael Nadal AND Novak Djokovic if he wants to double his Major win tally.
Considering
there could be some major battles ahead the odds on a match lasting longer than
four hours and 30 minutes is 5/6.
Who will
have the fastest serve? The favourite here is Milos Raonic at 3/1 with Jo-Wilfried
Tsonga just behind at 4s. Those of you who fancy another BOOM BOOM Becker will
plunder a barrage of ACES then Benjamin Becker can be backed at 18s.
The ladies
side of the tournament sees Serena Williams as odds on 4/7 to triumph with Maria
Sharapova second favourite at 15/2.
A bet that
catches the eye is a Djokovic/Sharapova win double at 27/1.
This week’s
Tenner bet is a Novelty Bet and basically depends on Andy Murray reaching the
Final….
£10 on Sean
Connery to be in Royal Box for the Mens Final @ 3/1
This Weeks
BFG Bet is
Wayne Rooney
NOT to be a Manchester United player at the end of the window at evens.
Please only
bet what you can afford to lose and feel free to debate any or all of the above
on Twitter (@yorkshiregunner).
Andy Wood
Born in Mining Town of Doncaster in 1973. Supported Arsenal FC thanks to my first footballing hero who was Pat Jennings whom I loved. My first Arsenal Game was an away game at Grimsby Town in January 1986 ( 4-3 win thanks to a Charlie Nicholas Hat-Trick of Free-kicks). I’ve since followed The Arsenal Home, Away & Abroad and my wife still doesn’t know how much I paid for the CL final ticket v Barca!
My All-time Fave’ Arsenal player is probably Dennis Bergkamp although I have soft spots for Tony Adams, Rocky & Steve Williams (!).
I`m a Proud Father of 6 who doesn’t get to as many games as I’d like for financial reasons (6 kids, you do the maths) but lives and breathes The Arsenal.
I write occasional blogs.
Asier Illaramandi would be an excellent addition as a DM at the Emirates, Wenger, please sign him up. COYG
