Fear and fearlessness Positives, Needs And Hopes I often wonder what the next evolution in football will be. Sometimes I think that since the game changed from being a player’s game to a coach’s game, there will be a need for greater improvisation as defensive blocks will nullify what is repeated. Sometimes I think […]
How should I feel? Positive Needs and Hopes What’s the name of that place in the Caribbean that everybody thinks is the ultimate luxury? I’ve forgotten so I’m going to go and ask my wife…… OK, it’s Atlantis. At least to me as a young adult I always saw the commercials for Atlantis and thought […]
Lucozade and lemon drops I always try to base my opening piece on what I think is the general feeling coming out of the game. The general feeling coming out of that game for me and most I think, was that yet again I soiled my britches and I feel like Arsenal need to give […]
Not fun, don’t care Positives, Needs and Hopes Well, actually I did care during the game. I didn’t necessarily need to be entertained but I did need to feel like we were trying to win. So, let’s get the honesty out of the way. During the games I make copious notes. I make columns based […]
Spin the wheel POSITIVES, NEEDS and HOPES I feel like a mug. Well actually I don’t now because the game is finished, but I felt like a mug after 15 minutes of the game. POSITIVES, NEEDS and HOPES Last week’s blog was called, ‘Nketiah and the Lost Puppy.’ If you didn’t read it, it was largely about a general sense of sadness that the Arsenal squad seem to have been stuck in. A stream of sadness that I have felt watching Arsenal the last three games. Admittedly, I am watching these games on the television screen and cannot see everybody all […]
The game didn’t start at 4:05pm POSITIVES, NEEDS and HOPES It’s not too late. It seems like it is, but it’s not. The situation and our push for Champions League football is still possible even though it seems like we are throwing it away. What has been too late however, is how our coach and […]
Don’t be nervous POSITIVES, NEEDS and HOPES Me: We need another one Max: Yeah, we definitely need another one Me: Has Leno made a save? Max: No, but we need another one Me: Do we need another one? Max: They don’t look like scoring so… Me: I’ve seen this before though. One isn’t enough. Max: […]
A place to dream POSITIVES, NEEDS and HOPES Everybody went back to the bus and I stayed for a few minutes. I sat at the top of the world in Meteora, Greece on a cliff where a monastery sits, and I dreamt. A short dream. Short but meaningful. I’d being sweating it all day as […]
