NOTE: This was written before the So’ton game. But for me, the issues at Arsenal Football Club have been a cascade of continually BAD decisions. It’s like a butterfly-effect of poor actions and wrong points, leading to our stellar mid-table placing currently. There is the poem of the “road not taken…” and how choices shape […]
Unai Emery has been out of work since he was sacked by Arsenal on the 29th November last year. He has been relatively quiet since his unceremonious departure from North London, and to his credit he conducted himself with class upon leaving and in any brief media correspondence since. But, like most managers, I knew […]
He went to the cupboard and the cupboard was bare? As a bat out of hell has caused the whole world to grind to a full stop and left us all teetering on the edge of Dante’s inferno, football must take a long hard look at itself. The EPL especially, must gulp a large intake […]
Mesut Ozil: how can he maintain his best form and stay in the Arsenal team? “Mesut Ozil was once one of the best, if not the best, playmakers in Europe. His assist numbers, as well as his underlying metrics in the form of key passes and expected assists were phenomenal.” This comment from Alfie Culshaw […]
7 thoughts on Arsenal Can’t stop thinking. Here’s 7 more… 1) I recently wrote an article where you could create Arsenal 20/21 from a list of 10 options in every position. It was amazing to me that we could sell 9 players that mostly sit on the bench and totally revamp and upgrade. I sold […]
Arsenal and the trip to Magaluf (End of Part one of 19/20) I was trying to think of what Part 1 of Arsenal’s season reminded me of…. Back in 1995 my mates and I booked a trip to Magaluf. We were 21. No parents. We were all moderately good looking. Let’s go! The trip started […]
Nothing looks easy Arsenal won yesterday but oh my, that was hard work. Part way through yesterday’s game I started to complain about how West Ham look every bit as good as we are. I then started to complain that we used to dominate games at home against almost everybody and that we are struggling […]
The Season So Far – And What We Have to Look Forward To When Arséne Wenger announced his departure in April 2018, supporters across the world were unanimous in their praise for one of the most successful managers in club football. The techniques and teachings of the old schoolmaster brought Arsenal well and truly into […]
Mesut Ozil is The Perfect Player and the Ultimate Conundrum It isn’t difficult to understand why Mesut Ozil has so many fans. The Gunners midfielder has it all: enviable vision, balance, power, an impressive and unexpected burst of pace, and superb technique. If you were designing the best football player you could imagine for today’s […]
Structure 3 Balance 1 Positives, Needs and Hopes Arsenal are in a period of sacrifice. It looks to me that the new coaching team has sacrificed needed work on our attacking game to focus heavily on defensive structure. I’m not necessarily disappointed as Arsenal haven’t had a proper defensive structure for almost half my life. […]
